Architecture of Images and their Reinvention
We live in a mediatized world in which advertisements and info-entertainment engulf us. These images and texts unconsciously affect our wants, thoughts, feelings, and decisions. In this assignment, you will select an image and then you will alter it in such a way that it would compel the viewer/reader to think about the image in a new light. In a 3-4 page double spaced typed essay you will explain your intervention and recreation process. This involves a discussion of images/texts as visual arguments for their targeted audience, explanation of your intervention and how it reframed and reinvented the original work and hence its purpose and audience.
• Find an image( figure, photograph, cartoon, illustration, poster, billboard, leaflet, drawing, webpage, tweet, instagram, film , Facebook, video game image, video…etc) that you find interesting and intriguing in its use of medium, material, modes and types of visuals and texts.
• Develop a short analysis 2 pages with a thesis that examines the intended meaning of the image/text, using the visual argument analysis criteria we have discussed. (composition, scene,words,tone) ill upload more questions how to analyze the image
• Alter and reinvent the architecture of the image in terms of medium, material, mode of expression, composition, setting, tone, words, context, and aural/ oral, and tactile features in such a way to compel viewers to look at it in a new light. The new image and text will obviously have a different purpose and audience.
• In a 3-4 page double spaced typed essay you will explain your image, your transformation and recreation process. This involves a discussion of images as visual arguments for your targeted audience, explanation of your intervention and how your work has reframed and reinvented the image and hence its purpose and audience. Make sure to provide links to the original image and your intervention or transformation of the image.
